If it is greasy, it must be placed in trash. If it is not greasy, rip it into smaller pieces and place in your recycling receptacle.
Because pizza boxes are almost always too greasy for recycling, most waste haulers are instructed not to accept them. Ripping up clean pizza boxes to make them unrecognizable is often the only way they would be accepted as recycling curbside.
